Progressive folk singer David Rovics performed in two Southern California benefits for the Free Gaza Movement Aug. 21 and 22. Hip-hop star Omar Offendum shared the stage with Rovics at the first performance in Venice Methodist Church Cordell Hall. Singer/songwriter Maria Armoudian preceded Rovics at the Aug. 22 event in Glendale’s Sidebar Café.
Rovics dedicated his stirring lyrics about the bravery of the Palestinian people to the Free Gaza Movement whose ship, Spirit of Humanity, was commandeered by the Israeli Navy on June 30 as it sailed toward Gaza to deliver needed medical supplies.
