2 The Muddle Over the Marines—The
story of the marine involvement in Lebanon now goes back more than
a year, and the Administration has not made the exact mission of
the marines any more clear to the American people than it did at
the very beginning. We give you chapter and verse.
4 No Anti-Boycott Relief—Regulations
designed to prevent U.S. companies from cooperating with the Arab
economic boycott of Israel have not stopped the boycott—but
by punishing even those companies which are not guilty they have
slowed the growth of U.S. exports. Unfortunately for U.S. business,
the regulations will continue in their present form for at least
two more years.
4 Lobby Activities—For
the first time ever, nearly a dozen Arab American groups have begun
coordinating their activities on a regular basis under a new umbrella
organization which has just been formed. The American Israel Public
Affairs Committee, meanwhile, can probably take some credit, however
indirectly, for helping set the stage for the recent passage of
two amendments in the Senate designed to cut aid to Syria.

7 Book Review—Two
journalists have put together a book, God Cried, that is replete
with stunning photography and searing prose on last year's siege
of West Beirut and the massacre of Sabra and Shatila. Get it. Then

8 Personality—Here's
a formula for being sought after by TV news shows these days: become
an expert on Syria, serve a three-year tour there as U.S. Ambassador,
develop a talent for thinking on your feet. Read our back page to
