Farewell to Zamir Akram
Mr. Zamir and Mrs. Sadia Akram are pictured at the
home of Pakistani press attaché Mohammad Azam at one of a
series of farewell parties by fellow diplomats and prominent Pakistani
Americans for the departing Akrams. A seasoned political officer,
Zamir Akram has served as political officer and now deputy chief
of mission under two Pakistani ambassadors in Washington, Maleeha
Lodhi, a prominent journalist and editor who served as ambassador
during the administration of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and
career diplomat Riaz Khokhar, who has served in Washington since
the election of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. Having completed
his tour in Washington, Zamir Akram, who also has served in the
Pakistani Embassy in Moscow, expects to be assigned to the foreign
ministry in Islamabad as director of South Asian affairs. |
