The Middle East Institute hosts a discussion on “Water and Conflict in the Middle East: Libya’s Solution,” with international oil and finance consultant Dr. Thomas R. Stauffer, who will discuss Libya’s “Great Man-Made River” project, April 11 at noon, in the MEI Boardman Room, 1761 N St. NW, Washington, DC. The Palestine Solidarity Committee will hold a two-day symposium entitled “Where Lies Jerusalem?” April 18-19 at the University of Texas at Austin. Panelists including Dr. Salim Tamari of Birzeit University and Dr. Ian Lustick of the University of Pennsylvania will join UT professors and students on panels examining such topics as Jerusalem’s legal status, Israeli settlement policy, refugees and reparation, and historical perspectives. USS Liberty Reunion

The USS Liberty Veterans Association will observe the 30th anniversary of the Israeli attack which killed 34 Americans and wounded 171 June 5-8 in Washington, DC. The reunion “kick off” will take place on the morning of June 6 (exact time to be determined) at the U.S. Navy Memorial, 9th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW. Events on June 7 include a visit to the National Security Agency Museum to view the Liberty display and an evening banquet and dancing. A memorial ceremony sponsored by the organization No Greater Love will be held June 8, 10:30 a.m., at Arlington National Cemetery, mass grave, section 34. A luncheon will follow the ceremony. Reunion headquarters will be at the Hotel Washington, 15th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW, which is offering special rates for those attending the reunion and who make reservations by calling 1 (800) 424-9540 by May 5.
