Arab-American Activism

AAUG MAPS 1998 PROGRAM

The Association of Arab American University Graduates' new board, elected at the organization's Washington, DC conference in November, held its first meeting Jan. 24 in the new AAUG offices at 4201 Connecticut Ave. NW in Washington, DC, which is also the address of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and the American Committee on Jerusalem. While AAUG has its own office, it shares conference and other space with the other organizations.

Newly elected president Dr. Nabil Khoury, a senior staff physician with the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, said the board agreed that in 1998 AAUG will continue production of Middle East Monitor, its on-line and printed publication which will undergo a name change to AAUG Monitor, and also will continue publishing Arab Studies Quarterly.

The current board includes vice president Yvonne Haddad, treasurer Bill Haddad, secretary Randa Kayyali and members Fouad Moughrabi and Kamal Siad. Board members agreed that AAUG activities had received a boost from its successful November convention in Washington, DC entitled "Arabs, Arab-Americans and the Global Community."
